Trump Fears Massive Death Toll in Venezuela Earthquakes

US President Donald Trump has expressed fears of a massive loss of life following the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela and pledged American support for the disaster-hit country.

According to the BBC, Trump said in a post on his social media platform Truth Social that both earthquakes were extremely powerful and had caused a devastating number of deaths.

He added that the United States is ready, willing and able to help. “We will stand by our new and great friends. The early reports are not good,” he said.

Meanwhile, Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodríguez thanked President Trump in a social media message. In a statement posted on Facebook, she said Trump has been in regular contact with Venezuelan authorities and that the US government has expressed its support and solidarity with Venezuela.
