Iran has set six conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz to the United States. An official of the country’s Supreme National Security Council said the strategic waterway would remain closed unless the United States changes its policies.
In a statement on Saturday (August 8), Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr said the United States must first change its conduct before the vital maritime route can be reopened.
Iran’s six conditions are:
Zolghadr said the demands reflect the will of the Iranian people. He also referred to rallies held across the country over the past six days in support of these demands.
He said that whether there is war or negotiations, the Supreme National Security Council will not back down from these demands.
