The 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will begin on Thursday, July 2. The government has introduced special security measures to prevent question paper leaks and cheating during the examinations.

Speaking at a press conference at the Secretariat on Wednesday (July 1), Education and Primary Education Adviser Dr. A N M Ehsanul Haque Milon said that anyone found committing punishable offences would face strict legal action.

He said members of the law enforcement agencies deployed at examination centres would wear body-worn cameras. Authorities will also take firm action against anyone attempting to spread leaked questions or misleading information through social media.

Dr. Milon added that three sets of question papers have been prepared to deal with any emergency, including natural disasters, question paper leaks, or other unforeseen situations. In disaster-prone areas, local authorities will assess the situation and take necessary decisions accordingly.

A total of 1,270,583 candidates are sitting for this year's HSC and equivalent examinations. The exams under the country's nine general education boards will be held using a common set of question papers. The adviser also said the government plans to introduce common question papers for shared subjects under the Madrasah and Technical Education Boards from next year.
