Death Sentences Upheld for Two Police Officers in Abu Sayeed Murder Case

The tribunal has published its full verdict, upholding the death sentences of two police officers convicted in the killing of student Abu Sayeed in Rangpur.
The judgment was released on Sunday (June 14) by the International Crimes Tribunal.
The two convicts sentenced to death are Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Amir Hossain and Constable Sujan Chandra Roy. The verdict also handed down life imprisonment and various terms of rigorous and non-rigorous imprisonment to the other accused.
Abu Sayeed, a student of the English Department at Begum Rokeya University, was shot dead by police on July 16, 2024, during the anti-quota movement in Rangpur.
