BNP's politics is for the people. That is why we have launched a canal re-excavation program to support farmers.

Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman made these remarks on Saturday (June 13) while inaugurating the Patali Canal Re-excavation Project in Cox’s Bazar.

The Prime Minister said that BNP's politics has always been centered on the welfare of ordinary people. He noted that around 70 to 80 percent of the country's population consists of hardworking rural and working-class citizens, and the government wants to work for their development and prosperity.

He further stated that women make up half of the country's population, and unless they become self-reliant, they cannot effectively contribute alongside men. Therefore, the government has announced free education for women up to the undergraduate and degree levels. Those who perform well academically will also receive scholarships.

After inaugurating the Patali Canal Re-excavation Project, Tarique Rahman is scheduled to launch a nationwide tree-planting campaign targeting 250 million trees by planting saplings in the Masumghat Reserved Forest. He will also visit the grave of Cox’s Bazar July uprising martyr Wasim and meet with his family members.

In addition, he will attend foundation stone-laying and inauguration ceremonies for infrastructure projects in Pekua Municipality and the newly established Matamuhuri Upazila.

Politically, the most anticipated event of the visit will be a public rally at the Chakaria Municipal Bus Terminal Ground. The Prime Minister is expected to address the gathering as the chief guest in the afternoon.
