A 16-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped on a moving bus in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Police arrested the bus driver, Kuldeep, 39, and conductor, Sandeep, 26, in connection with the incident. The incident occurred on August 4, according to Indian media outlet NDTV.
Police said the girl was travelling from Mainpuri to Noida to visit her cousin. After getting off at Pari Chowk at around 9pm, she became stranded in heavy rain and darkness. She later boarded a seemingly empty sleeper bus after the conductor told her it was heading towards Sector 63.
According to her complaint, the conductor sexually assaulted her after the bus started moving and threatened to kill her when she resisted. The accused later allegedly abandoned her near Ring Road in the Kashmiri Gate area of Delhi.
Police have seized the bus and collected CCTV footage from its route. A forensic team also recovered hair believed to belong to the girl from inside the bus. The two arrested men had reportedly been working for private transport company Bishwanath Travels for more than two years.
