West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has called for India to take back Pakistan-administered Azad Kashmir. He made the remarks at an event outside the Jadavpur University campus in Kolkata on Friday (August 28), according to The Indian Express.
Criticising student protests at Jadavpur University against ‘Operation Sindoor’, Adhikari said students should demand the freedom of Pakistan-administered Kashmir before raising slogans in support of Kashmir or Palestine.
“If you are raising slogans for Kashmir’s freedom or a free Palestine, why? Before talking about Palestine, write ‘Free PoK’... Remember, we will definitely take back that Kashmir,” he said.
Adhikari also called for an end to what he described as a “culture of intimidation” at Jadavpur University and pledged to revive nationalist sentiment both inside and outside the campus.
His comments came after clashes between the BJP-linked Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the left-wing Students’ Federation of India (SFI) at the university.
He also accused previous Trinamool Congress and Left governments in West Bengal of undermining nationalism and the state’s cultural heritage. Adhikari claimed that Jadavpur University had long been influenced by communist politics.
