The CVs of around 6 million Bangladeshi job seekers have allegedly been put up for sale on the dark web. A hacker group identified as “Madarax” published the advertisement on Sunday, August 23.

The group claims the database contains names, phone numbers, email addresses, residential addresses, educational qualifications, work experience and training details of Bdjobs users. It reportedly offered the data for $1,000.

To support its claim, the group published 148 sample CVs. However, many of the samples appear to contain outdated information, with several last updated between 2011 and 2017.

Bdjobs has denied the claim of a major data breach. Cybersecurity experts warn that if the data is genuine, it could be used for targeted phishing, fake job offers, identity theft and financial fraud.
