US President Donald Trump has again shared a map of the strategically important Strait of Hormuz on Truth Social, labeling it as “NEW US Territory.” The move comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran over control of the vital waterway.
Trump had shared the same image on August 18. Earlier, on August 14, he said the United States would soon declare the Strait of Hormuz a US territory after defeating Iran.
Iran has rejected Trump’s claim and said the Strait will remain closed until the United States changes its position and fulfils its commitments. Iranian officials have also warned neighboring countries against supporting Washington’s economic measures against Tehran.
Meanwhile, Washington is preparing new sanctions against Iran, further intensifying the ongoing economic confrontation. The developments have also raised concerns over global energy supplies, as the Strait of Hormuz is a key route for international oil and LNG shipments.
