Iran Ready to Deepen and Expand Ties With Bangladesh

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said his country is ready to deepen its longstanding ties with Bangladesh and expand bilateral cooperation.

He made the remarks in a congratulatory message sent on Friday (August 21) to Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir following his election as Bangladesh’s 23rd president. Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported the development.

In his message, Pezeshkian said lawmakers’ confidence in Mirza Fakhrul’s commitment to strengthening democracy, along with his vision and achievements, had opened a new chapter of stability, prosperity and progress for the people of Bangladesh.

He reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to further strengthening the longstanding and brotherly relations between the two countries. He also expressed his government’s determination to expand cooperation with Bangladesh in bilateral, regional and international affairs.

Pezeshkian wished Mirza Fakhrul continued success in carrying out his responsibilities as president. He also prayed for peace, happiness and prosperity for the people of Bangladesh.

Earlier, Mirza Fakhrul was elected president with 255 votes in Thursday’s presidential election held in parliament. He took oath as the country’s 23rd president at Bangabhaban on Friday evening.
