The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms across different parts of the country for five consecutive days, with moderate to heavy rainfall possible in some areas.
The forecast, issued on Saturday (August 22), covers the 120-hour period from 9am that day.
On Saturday, many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions, along with some areas of Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal, may experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds. Moderate to heavy rainfall is also possible in some areas.
On Sunday, rain is expected in many parts of Chattogram and Sylhet and some areas of other divisions. Similar conditions may continue on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with several regions likely to receive rain and thunderstorms.
The weather department said the monsoon axis extends through parts of India and southern Bangladesh toward Assam. The southwest monsoon remains fairly active over Bangladesh, while the North Bay of Bengal is in a moderate condition.
Temperatures may fall slightly in some areas, while remaining mostly unchanged on other days.
