Imran Khan Returns to Jail After Medical Checkup

Pakistan’s former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan has been taken back to Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail after undergoing medical tests at a hospital in Islamabad.

Following a Supreme Court order, Imran Khan was taken to Shifa International Hospital late Thursday night under tight security. A team of specialists, including ophthalmologists, cardiologists and a medicine specialist, conducted a detailed health examination.

Pakistan’s Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the doctors found Imran medically fit after the examination. His sister, Uzma Khan, was also present throughout the medical process.

After the examination was completed, Imran Khan was taken back to Adiala Jail at around 5am on Friday (August 21).

Imran Khan has been in prison since August 2023. His party has repeatedly expressed concern over his health and alleged that his condition has deteriorated during his imprisonment.
