Roberto Carlos Reportedly Embraces Islam, Welcomed by Kaaba Imam

Brazilian football legend Roberto Carlos has reportedly embraced Islam, following which Sheikh Dr. Yasir Al-Dosari, Imam and Khatib of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, extended his congratulations and welcomed the former World Cup winner.

On Wednesday, Sheikh Yasir Al-Dosari shared a photo of Carlos on his verified Facebook page and wrote, “Welcome to the religion of mercy.” He also prayed for Carlos, asking Allah to keep him steadfast in the faith, guide his heart and bless his acceptance of Islam.

The news of Carlos’s reported conversion was first made public on Tuesday by Ali Sahin, a Turkish lawmaker from the ruling AK Party. He claimed that he learned about the matter during a recent visit to Brazil and through Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh, a prominent Brazilian Islamic figure.

According to Sahin, Carlos recited the Shahada and formally embraced Islam during a meeting with Sheikh Jihad Hammadeh in São Paulo around four weeks ago.

However, international football outlet Goal.com reported that Roberto Carlos has not personally confirmed the claim, nor has any official representative spoken publicly about it. As a result, the reported conversion has yet to receive official confirmation from Carlos himself.
