The Israel Football Association has withdrawn its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s re-election. On Tuesday (August 18), IFA President Moshe Zuares announced the decision in a letter.
Infantino has faced criticism from UEFA, CONCACAF and AFC over his plans to privatize World Cup partnerships and his approach to global football governance. Earlier, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland had also withdrawn their support for him.
Israel said recent developments have created deep and fundamental disagreements between FIFA and UEFA. The decision has added further uncertainty to Infantino’s bid for re-election.
