Ukraine has launched its largest-ever drone attack on Russia, sending nearly 900 drones toward targets across the country overnight. At least six people were killed in the attacks.

Russia’s state-run TASS news agency reported that the strike was the largest Ukrainian drone attack of the year. Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defense forces intercepted drones over 17 regions, mainly in the southern and eastern parts of the country.

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said 187 drones were shot down over Moscow and surrounding areas using air defense systems and electronic warfare equipment.

CNN reported that a drone struck a warehouse belonging to Wildberries, one of Russia’s largest online retailers, in Moscow. No casualties were reported in that incident.

Five of the six people killed were reportedly in the southern Rostov region, while the sixth victim was an 83-year-old man in Moscow.

Russia also launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes on Ukraine, including attacks on the capital Kyiv. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has urged Western countries to provide additional air defense systems to help protect the country from Russian attacks.
