Iran: No Direct Talks Underway with the United States

Iran has made it clear that no direct talks are currently taking place with the United States. However, messages continue to be exchanged through intermediaries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told Iran’s Mehr News Agency that the United States had violated the terms of a memorandum of understanding reached between the two countries. He said Tehran would not agree to resume talks until Washington takes corrective measures regarding those violations.

Araghchi said efforts are underway to create the necessary conditions for negotiations. However, he stressed that there is no possibility of resuming talks until the United States addresses and rectifies the violations it has committed.
