Plot to kill Messi, attempt to enter Ronaldo’s hotel revealed

A plot to kill Lionel Messi and an attempt to enter Cristiano Ronaldo’s hotel during the World Cup have been revealed in a leaked US police security document.

According to the document, Messi was targeted with threats of a shooting and a suicide attack ahead of Argentina’s matches. Police also received a call claiming that bombs had been planted inside a stadium. A search by bomb experts and trained dogs found no explosives.

Ronaldo also faced a security threat when a man tried to find out the location of his hotel. Later, a fan breached security and attempted to enter the hotel and ride the same elevator as Ronaldo. After being detained, he claimed he only wanted a selfie.

Several referees and players also received death threats, raising fresh concerns over security during the tournament.
