A New Imran Hashmi in the Trailer of ‘Awarapan 2’

After 19 years, the world of the popular romantic-action film Awarapan is returning to the big screen. The trailer of Awarapan 2, starring Emraan Hashmi, was released on Thursday. The trailer introduces viewers to a darker and more intense version of Emraan, driven by revenge.

The 1-minute-25-second trailer opens with a dark, rainy night scene where Emraan Hashmi is seen hanging from a rope, covered in blood and injuries. At that moment, veteran actress Shabana Azmi arrives from a car surrounded by bodyguards, playing a mysterious character.

Addressing the injured Emraan, Shabana’s character says, “What a beautiful face. Do you wish to meet death?” Despite his pain, Emraan replies, “I have an old relationship with death. There is a debt I need to repay.”

The trailer then shifts into high-speed action sequences with the background score of the first film’s popular song “Tera Mera Rishta.”

The trailer shows Shivam Pandit consumed by revenge and haunted by memories of his past. At different moments, he is seen fighting shirtless in heavy rain, racing through deserted streets, and engaging in intense fights inside a prison. Toward the end of the trailer, he is shown launching a fierce attack with heavy weapons.

Despite the intense action, the sequel appears to retain the emotional core of the original film. Shivam’s character is still struggling with the memories of his lost love.

Soon after the trailer’s release, fans flooded the comment section with praise. Many described Awarapan as more than just a film, calling it an emotion and a piece of nostalgia. Some fans said Emraan Hashmi’s era has returned and predicted a blockbuster, while others praised the actor by saying they saw “a new Emraan Hashmi” on screen.

The trailer also features brief appearances by actors Disha Patani, Subeender Vicky, and Puran Gabbi. However, details about their roles have been kept under wraps.

Produced by Vishesh Bhatt and based on a story by Bilal Siddiqui, Awarapan 2 has been directed by Nitin Kakkar. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14. It will face a box-office clash with Sunny Deol’s Border 1947.
