The Government of Brunei has expressed its interest in recruiting more workers from Bangladesh. The announcement came during a courtesy meeting between Brunei Darussalam's High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Haji Haris Bin Othman, and Bangladesh's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Shama Obaed Islam, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed several key areas of bilateral cooperation, including manpower recruitment, trade and investment, energy collaboration, and air connectivity.

State Minister Shama Obaed Islam highlighted Bangladesh's interest in increasing employment opportunities for Bangladeshi workers in Brunei. She also emphasized strengthening business-to-business (B2B) cooperation, promoting partnerships among women entrepreneurs, and establishing a Bangladesh–Brunei Chamber of Commerce to deepen trade and commercial relations.

The Brunei High Commissioner welcomed these proposals and reaffirmed Brunei's commitment to expanding trade and investment cooperation with Bangladesh. Bangladesh also requested greater market access in Brunei for its pharmaceutical products, jute goods, agricultural products, and mangoes.

Both sides further discussed the possibility of forming a joint business platform involving trade organizations, entrepreneurs, and investors from both countries to achieve meaningful outcomes in trade, business, and investment.
