Iran Parliament Moves Bill Targeting Trump And Netanyahu

Iran’s parliament is moving forward with a bill that would place a 60 million dollar bounty on the heads of US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The report was published by The Telegraph.

The move is being described as retaliation for the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in joint US Israeli strikes earlier this year. Iran’s parliament has reportedly begun the legal process to pass a bill offering a reward for the assassination of the two leaders.

According to The Telegraph the proposed legislation would formally grant a reward of 50 million euros equivalent to around 58.2 million US dollars to any individual or organization responsible for killing Trump or Netanyahu. In Bangladeshi currency the amount is estimated at nearly 714 crore taka.

Chairman of Iran’s National Security Commission Ebrahim Azizi said the commission is drafting a bill titled Countermeasures By The Military And Security Forces Of The Islamic Republic.

A ceasefire is currently in place between Iran and the US Israel alliance. Analysts believe Tehran’s latest legal initiative could further escalate tensions despite the ongoing truce. Previous Iranian threats against foreign leaders were mostly limited to religious fatwas or political statements. This is the first time such a proposal is reportedly being advanced through a formal parliamentary process.
