The police force faced widespread public anger while carrying out the illegal and unjust orders of the dictatorship. Many honest police members also had to pay the price for this, said Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus.
The Chief Advisor made these remarks in a speech to police members at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Tuesday (April 29).In his speech, he said that during the 15 years of dictatorial rule, the entire system was destroyed by turning the country's police force into a party force.
The Chief Advisor told the police members, "The rights, dignity, and justice of all people will be established, and there will be no discrimination. This has been the aspiration of the people for ages. The law enforcement agencies must play a strong role in fulfilling this aspiration."
Addressing the police, the chief advisor said, "When the interim government took office last August, the law and order system in this country was in a fragile state. There was a distance between the police and the public. The government has taken all necessary measures to improve the situation."
At that time, the Home Affairs Advisor, Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, IGP and other senior officials concerned were present.
