At least six terrorists were killed and four others injured in a gunfight with joint army and police forces in Pakistan, the country's army's Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Friday. The incident took place in Bannu district of the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The statement said that based on intelligence inputs, a joint army-police force conducted an operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from the night of April 23 to the night of April 24. During the operation, there was a heavy exchange of fire with terrorists. In this, 6 terrorists were killed and 4 others were injured.
The statement further said that Pakistan is committed to eradicating terrorism from its soil. The operation will continue as long as the roots of terrorism remain in the country.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, two of Pakistan's four provinces and three union territories, have seen a dramatic surge in terrorist activity and attacks in the past few years.
