An ultralight aircraft, a Fresia RG, crashed onto a highway in Brescia city, Lombardy province, northern Italy. The plane caught fire on impact, killing the pilot Sergio Ravaglia (75) and his companion Anne Marie Di Stefano (60) instantly at the scene.
The pilot tried to make an emergency landing, but the plane broke apart on the road. During the accident, two drivers in passing cars were injured. Their condition is currently stable.
Police and firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and controlled the fire. The Brescia public prosecutor’s office is investigating the aircraft’s maintenance records.
