A 17-year-old girl in Delhi was allegedly gang-raped and stabbed to death before her body was dumped in an open field. Police said parts of the decomposed body were later eaten by stray dogs.
According to NDTV, the body was recovered on September 13 from near Kushak Road in Swaroop Nagar, northwest Delhi. Police examined footage from more than 50 CCTV cameras in the area and traced the movements of a suspicious tempo.
After questioning the tempo driver, police detained four people, including three teenagers. Police allege that the girl was with the suspects inside the tempo when the incident occurred. Two knives, clothing and the tempo were also recovered.
One of the detainees is an adult, while the other three are aged 16 and 17. A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The investigation is continuing to establish the exact circumstances and the individual roles of those detained.
