Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has joined a consortium interested in acquiring Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola. The five-member investment group is reportedly planning to submit a proposal to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
PIF currently owns 75 percent of Al-Nassr. Alongside Ronaldo, the consortium includes AC Milan owner Gerry Cardinale and three Saudi businessmen.
Ronaldo already owns a 5 percent stake in Al-Nassr, according to reports. If the proposed deal goes through, his ownership could increase. However, the financial terms and other details of the potential acquisition have not yet been finalized.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in late 2022 and quickly became the club’s biggest star. In February this year, the 41-year-old forward also acquired a 25 percent stake in Spanish second-division club Almeria, becoming one of its shareholders.
