US President Donald Trump has urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to stop attacks on Russia’s diesel fuel infrastructure, saying such strikes are worsening diesel shortages and the global fuel crisis.

Speaking during his visit to Ireland on Sunday (September 13), Trump said Ukraine could target other Russian military sites but should not attack diesel facilities.

According to maritime intelligence firm Kpler, Russia is the world’s second-largest diesel exporter after the United States. Continued Ukrainian attacks on Russian fuel infrastructure could therefore have an impact on the global energy market.

Meanwhile, a Russian drone strike damaged the engine of a passenger train in Yahodyn, near Ukraine’s border with Poland. Ukraine’s railway authorities said a diplomatic train carrying European officials was in the area at the time, with former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former CIA Director David Petraeus among those present.
